Update: UI Extension Claim Forms 1/22/2010 Admin

Some UI claimants on various federal extensions of benefits did not receive a new bi-weekly continued claim form along with their UI checks that were sent December 21-31, 2009. Upon detecting the issue, EDD identified approximately 23,000 individuals who should have received the claim forms and then printed and mailed the claim forms by December 31. Staff also worked through the New Year¡¯s holiday weekend to search files and identified another 39,000 people affected. They should receive their claim forms by January 11, if not earlier.

Some claimants affected should still receive their claim form within the two-week eligibility period covered by the form and they should be able to avoid any delays with their benefit checks. Others may receive the delayed claim form toward the end of, or just after, the two-week eligibility period covered by the form and could encounter a couple of days delay with their checks.

EDD regrets any inconvenience or confusion for our customers. We believe the programming situation has been resolved and federal extension claim forms for potentially eligible claimants will once again automatically accompany UI checks.
